(no subject) [Dec. 8th, 2006|05:09 pm]
My grandpa died last night at 3:00 AM.

He lived with us for the past six months. He had lung cancer.

Unfortunately, he was my mom's stepdad and never adopted her. He has 8 "real" children who he doesn't have contact with. They wanted nothing to do with him in life, and none came to see him when he was dying. Even though he specified in his will that he wants to be cremated, they cannot do so until they receive permision from the "family". So, he'll be sitting in a freezer for a while. B.S. Aside from that, my mom was the sole benefactor in his will. I anticipate court drama.

Another example of how life can be crazier than death.

When it rains... [Nov. 27th, 2006|07:07 pm]
Well, I can't beleive that this is all happening. On Saturday I left for work asking my grandpa (who has lung cancer) if everything was ok, etc. He said he was fine, but still wouldn't eat. Anyway, I called my mom (she was in Tennessee) on the way to work and shortly after she called me back saying to take my grandpa to the hospital. Well, he couldn't even move so I ended up calling an ambulance. After spending 6 hours in the hospital I got to go home. My grandpa was admitted and I think he's on his last leg. My mom got back up here and today we set about making funeral arrangements and stuff. We figured it would be easier while he's still here and if both of us did it together. Anyway, on the way abck from the hospital a few hours ago I was rear ended by a truck going 45 MPH. I was stopped at a light and in my grandpa's car- his pride and joy, which is now totalled. when we wrre hit, I smashed my head on the steering wheel, not to mention got a good smack in my collarbone fracture by the seatbelt. So I'm broken, hurting, and have a concussion. I am supposed to go back to college and have class tommorrow. One of my professors has already emailed me and told me to take all the extensions and deadlines that I need. I'm tempted to just stay and go back next Tuesday, because I was already going to have to come back home this Friday. So, I would miss Tuesday and Thrusday classes. Oh boy, when it rains it pours I guess.

geesh... [Nov. 23rd, 2006|07:09 pm]
So, in a few weeks I'll be moving back to P-town. Yep, going to be student teaching in Richmond. Sounds exciting. Anyway, my mom and I had Thanksgiving together yesterday. I made a fabulous turkey. My mom is crazy and got one that weighed 18 pounds! There's about 15 lbs left in the fridge if anyone is interested... So, right when we sat down to eat the post man came up with a registered letter. Apparently, my dad is trying to get my mom arrested for stealing a motorcycle! What the heck! We've never had a motorcycle! He said she stole it last summer, but that was when she wa sin Georgia! What a crack pot! I'm 21, I haven't seen my dad in 10 years. Why can't he just get over it and leave us alone. I seriously hate being in this house. I'm always afraid he's going to show up and do something stupid.
Anyway, obviously we're not worried about it!
Last night, I hung out with Jeffrey which was good times. We had some fabulous people watching opoortunities in P-town and I finished my Christmas shopping for Chad. Go me!
Today, I worked at Denny's which I will also do tommorrow and the next day, etc. So, overall, life is... interesting...
Happy Thanksgiving!

The perils of Mt. Pleasant [Oct. 30th, 2006|11:18 pm]
So, Chad and I were walking through campus to go to Kaya and get us some coffee. It was dark, very dark and it is Halloween weekend. We were approached by two men dressed in black suits, blues brothers style. Anyway, it was a little creepy, even more so when they asked if they could speak to us about the Book of Mormon. Seems to me that popping out of bushes in the middle of the night dressed like the MIB isn't the best way to convert people to your religion, but what do I know? Perhaps they should stick to leaving Bible tracts in public restrooms.

Here is a brief synopsis of my life as it stands:

Last weekend Chad and I met my mom up at the cabin in Mio. She has been very sad taking care of grandpa with his chemo and such. So, we took my mom to the bar. After half a glass of whiskey and coke my mommy was drunk. But, I think dancing around and laughing made her feel better. Isn't that sad? We need depressants to be happy? Ironic. Anyway, it did her a lot of good just to get out of the hosue, but the whiskey thing was funny. if you know my mom you can imagine it. Then, there was a sleep over at Dee's somehow. That was exciting because it involved pancakes. Chad and I have also acquired pet rats. he is a neuroscience major and so he kills rats (injects them with drugs, euthanzizes them and slices open their brains). It is all very horroble and scientific and I try not to think about it. Anyway, they don't use the female rats except as breeders or snake bait. So, we now have two grily rats, and tonight we bought them a fancy cage so they can get out of their old lab cage. They already have a ball to run around in but only one of them knows how to work it. The other one makes herself sea sick in it. Anyway, now I am in PoHo. I had another x-ray yesterday and yes, my collarbone is still fractured. it has been 2 months. there is some healing now which probably explains the soreness/stiffness. Also, I have four more weeks of physical therapy at least. Yay for me. Not really, it sucks and I don't want to hurt anymore. There is construction all over Port Huron and I don't know how to drive anywhere. Plus, I am driving my grandpas car around hich is a tank. I have to take him to chemo tommorrow. My sister was somewhat civil to me today- I was trying on dresses for the wedding tommorrow and he told me I was ugly and my clothes were ugly... then she found me something to wear. This is good for Aimee. Anyway, I beleive that is all- I'm stil lsad, still broken, still poor, and I have rats in my apartment. Geesh.

so thats the way it goes... [Sep. 1st, 2006|05:50 pm]
I went to the doctor today and after another fabulous x-ray was told that my collarbone is showing no signs of healing yet...hmm... When I broke it the bone split clean in half and is now overlapping each other with a good 1/4 inch gap between the two. There is no way to set this. The doctor said not to worry about surgery. That would cause way more complications and if we went that route I would probably never be able to lift anything with my left arm because of tendon damage. Anyway, he said it may take the whole semester for this thing to heal but not to panic... yikes. I start physical therapy tuesday morning back at school. Yepp, moving and stuff with two ends of my bone just floating around sound like a whole lot of fun.
